Reports of Military Violations of Court Order Prohibiting Removal of Residents
Last night (January 23) the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI) sent an urgent letter to the State Attorney’s HCJ Department after learning of grave violations of the provisional injunction against the eviction of the residents of the villages in the area. The exercises are reported to be taking place around the villages of Jinba, Tabban and Mirkez. Residents reported that the military held training exercises on their cultivated fields using heavy vehicles that caused serious damage to the land. Residents of Mirkez reported that trenches had been dug around the village, preventing residents from leaving the village, procuring supplies or shepherding their sheep.
On January 16, in response to a renewed petition filed by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI), the High Court of Justice issued a provisional injunction prohibiting the forced removal of the petitioners and their families from their homes in Firing Zone 918.
